We wanted to dedicate a blog post to Mainstream Boutique for a few different reasons. Firstly, because they recently celebrated their 2 year anniversary (congratulations!!), and kindly involved the YWCA Minot in the celebrations! Secondly, because Mainstream Boutique and owner Pam Karpenko have continually supported the YWCA Minot, and we wanted to highlight just how much she, and her business, have done to help empower women and tackle homelessness in Minot, North Dakota.
Below is a timeline of donations Mainstream Boutique have given to the YWCA Minot, and events they have involved us in!
Mainstream Boutique donated dozens of items of clothing for the women living in our shelter! These items of clothing were brand new, and the women had so much fun 'shopping' for much needed clothes. The impact of this donation was even featured on the local news, and you can read more about that here.
Mainstream Boutique donated more clothing to the YWCA Minot!
On November 14th the YWCA Board of Directors and staff members participated in the yearly Board Retreat. After attending Margie's Art Glass Studio and getting creative, we were let loose downtown for a Scavenger Hunt! Mainstream Boutique agreed to be involved, and below is a picture of one of the teams with Pam Karpenko!
Pam Karpenko, Jodi Stewart, and Carol & Gary Hovdestad donated a brand new refrigerator to our homeless shelter! It fits perfectly and looks great. It was an exciting day for the women receiving this!
Mainstream Boutique-Minot celebrated their 2-year anniversary! They included the YWCA Minot in their celebrations, and encouraged customers to donate cleaning supplies to give to us. Congratulations to your success in Minot thus far and we are so grateful to you and your customers for the support and kindness that you continue to offer the women in our homeless shelter!
A BIG thank you to the Student Nurse Organization (SNO) from Dakota College at Bottineau for holding a clothing and household item drive for the YWCA!
We want to thank the practical nursing students and the Associate Degree students too - they held a root beer float, so that they could give us a monetary donation along with the donated items! THANK YOU!!
We appreciate your generosity and for finding time away from your studies to organize this - we would not exist without organizations like yours!
This is AMAZING! Thank you to the Erik Ramstad Middle School Circle Of Friends Program, who collected 555 rolls of toilet paper! They were matched by Kimberly-Clarke and Dakota Supply Company - bringing the total to 5700 rolls!!
We do not know how to thank you all enough - we counted 2160 rolls, which is an incredible donation!
We have received so many generous donations for the women at our homeless shelter since the start of May! Community support has been so amazing – the women of the shelter appreciate all the items. A variety of items have been donated and include make-up testers, toothpaste, clothes, bed linen, socks, and food. It is so important that we are able to give homeless women and children the opportunity to meet their most basic needs. Many come to us in survival mode. A simple pair of socks, or some shampoo can go a long way with someone that has been worrying about where they will sleep or how they will get their next meal. A special thanks to Evolution Salon, Victoria’s Secret, Minot State University, and Mary Kay Cosmetics for their donations. A local middle school also arranged a ‘donations drive’ for the YWCA Minot! The middle school’s motto is to ’empower students’, and encouraging them to do charity work within their local community is the perfect way to do this. Below you will be able to see some of the donations individuals and businesses kindly donated!
